Student Movement Leader during the 70s and 80s and trade union representative and member of the board of directors of Metro de Caracas. He is member of the “Bolivarian Revolutionary Movement 200” and of its National Direction from 1994-1997, founder and National Coordinators of the Worker’s Bolivarian Force, founding member of the Fifth Republic Movement (MVR) as well as National Director of the Mobilization of such Movement. Deputy to the National Congress nominally elected representing the area of Valle-Coche, Chief of the Fifth Republic Movement Parliamentary Faction (until March 2001), candidate to Constituent National Assembly, president of the Citizen’s Participation Commission of the Constituent National Assembly, Deputy to the National Assembly elected and again representing the area of Valle-Coche, president of the Permanent Commission for Social Overall Development at National Assembly, president of the Joint Committee that studies the legislative initiatives in order to promote employment, Coordinator of the Fifth Republic Movement Parliamentary Team (until March 2001), Coordinator of the Fifth Republic Movement Parliamentary Team of the Majority Block for a Change at National Assembly. He was elected President of the National Assembly for the period between January 2005 to January 2006. Type of Election Deputy Nicolás Maduro was elected in a nominal way (MVR,MAS,PCV) by the Constituency Number 5 of the Capital District of Caracas with 26.630 votes that represent the 65.86% of the total counted votes from that district.
